Public Opinion: Ulysses is a regarded as a great piece of literature and is on a lot of books you should read before you die lists. The way it was written with the characters being introduced during different time frames in the book can be very confusing for a reader. While it is a highly regarded piece of literature, it can also be confusing.

Censorship: The novel was banned in London until the 1930s. Banned in the United States in the 1921, finally allowed to be printed in 1934. First English speaking country that allowed the book.

Appropriate Age: 11th, 12th grade high school
